DISTANT VISITORS

2020 - ongoing

I have always loved the haziness, the softening, the revealing and concealing that occurs behind our front entrance windows. So one afternoon during my son’s nap, I tried photographing myself through the barrier of the glass. We had been sheltering in place for just over a month at this point. Something about the photos rang true to my current experience of isolation and distance from human bodies. I was craving to touch and see human bodies, off a screen. Just as on a computer screen, so much was hidden and lost by the camera, by the sheet of glass.

I continue to be interested in capturing these portraits as a documentation of the feelings and strangeness of this pandemical time.
